Leading a team of 25 writers, photographers and graphic designers in publishing UNiD Magazine, the design publication of study association Lucid. In my coordination I have laid a strong focus on bringing structure to the committee, as well as improving communication between the different teams.
In the first year of my studies I became a graphic designer in the UNiD committee. It gave me an opportunity to keep improving my prior graphic design experience. In the second year, I was asked to become “Chief Editor” of the committee, becoming end responsible for the magazine.
The UNiD operates in 4 distinct teams: Print, Media, Graphics, and PR. Overseeing these teams is a team of chiefs. I was responsible for leading the meeting between these chiefs, deciding on the content in the next issue, making a planning, and keeping the committee together. By making a structured planning document and having more moments together with the whole committee, the group became both a more efficient and a more fun place to work. We also produced three beautiful magazines, one of which is embedded below.
I have learned a great deal about leading a team of this size, keeping morale high, and delegating a task to the other chiefs. As someone who likes taking up any task I find important, especially this last skill – giving up control and trusting the people you work with – has been a very valuable one to acquire.
